What is Stoneform® flooring?
Stoneform® flooring is a composite flooring made of nearly 70% limestone and 30% virgin non-recycled PVCВ which makes it ultra-stable and durable. Stoneform® flooring has all the benefits of natural wood and stone flooring without all the upkeep and hassle. The wear layer is composed of UV cured urethane with an added level of aluminum oxide to make it more scratch and dent resistant. Our attached-back padding is 1.5MM in thickness for a sound reducing and cushioning feel.
Where is Stoneform® flooring made?
Stoneform® flooring is made in China. Our factory partners have unparalleled production quality that we haven't seen duplicated anywhere else in the world.
Why does it matter how thick Stoneform® is?
Many flooring companies cut corners by making their products thinner to save cost which leads to flooring stability and durability failures. Hewn Floor offers a 20-year residential true structural warranty with our Stoneform® flooring products.
What is the attached back of Stoneform® flooring made of?
We use a 1.5MM IXPE attached underlayment made of cutting edge Irradicated Cross-linked Polyethelene. IXPE is a closed cell foam that is 100% waterproof, impervious to mildew, mold, rot, and bacteria. StoneformВ® Select has 4MM core thickness plus a 1.5MM IXPE attached back padding. Stoneform® Premium and Elite products have 5MM core thickness plus a 1.5MM IXPE attached back padding.
Does Stoneform® flooring have VOC's?
Stoneform® is FloorScore certified from SGS Global. Guaranteed to not off-gas any harmful VOCs and passes all FloorScore requirements for indoor air quality.
What kind of certifications does Stoneform® have?

What does a Hewn Floor warranty cover?
All Hewn Floor products have a 20-year residential warranty. Stoneform® Premium also has a 10-year light commercial floor warranty. Stoneform® Elite has a 10-year medium commercial floor warranty. Hewn Floor warranty covers the structure of the flooring if it cracks, delaminates, separates, or warps. Hewn floor warranty covers replacement and shipping of Stoneform® flooring.
Original labor cost or replacement labor costs are not covered by the Hewn Floor warranty. Scratches due to negligence or poor maintenance are not covered by the Hewn Floor warranty. Stoneform flooring failure is not covered in the case of flooding or moisture originating from underneath the flooring.
What is a wear layer and why does it matter?
Wear layer is the top surface of Stoneform® flooring that helps prevent scratches and dents from reaching the core. Our proprietary wear layer consists of ceramic bead infused urethane which makes it more durable than other floors. The wear layer on Stoneform® Select product is 20 Mils or .5MM thickness and is rated for only residential use. The Stoneform® Premium wear layer is 20 Mils or .5MM thickness, and Stoneform® Elite is 30 Mils or .75MM thickness.
Is Stoneform® flooring safe?
Stoneform® is completely safe. The core is composed of approximately 70% limestone and 30% virgin vinyl. Our flooring is SGS Global FloorScore certified and will not off-gas or release any VOCs or other harmful chemicals.
What is the difference between a Micro-bevel edge and an Enhanced Bevel edge?
Stoneform® Select product comes with a micro-bevel pressed edge meant to replicate the look of engineered wood flooring. The micro-bevel edging helps to distinguish between planks placed together. Our Premium and Elite products come with an enhanced bevel painted edge V-groove. This is designed to mimic chamfered edge hardwood products with even more obvious distinguishing between individual planks.
What is the sound rating for Stoneform® flooring?
ASTM E492-09 Impact Sound Conduction IIC 57: The IXPE padding attached to each flooring plank is an excellent insulator and has an excellent IIC sound absorption rating of 60. This helps Stoneform® feel warm underfoot and dampens sound.
Does Stoneform® feel cold to the touch or crack like tile?
Stoneform® wood alternative flooring is designed to look and feel like traditional hardwood floors. To the touch, Stoneform® is remarkably similar to hardwood. Stoneform® will not crack like traditional tile floors do.

My baseboards are already installed, how do I install flooring?
Stoneform® is a click (Unilin) together type installation (angle-angle) and requires at least one side of the room to have baseboards removed and reinstalled.
How do I install flooring around existing door jambs?
When installing flooring planks around existing door jambs, all jambs should be undercut with an oscillating saw. See our installation video for demonstration.
Can I install StoneformВ® over existing flooring?
Click together types of flooring can be installed over permanently fasted floors like ceramic tile or glue down vinyl but cannot be installed over hardwood, floating surfaces like laminate or carpet. For installation over existing ceramic tile, the grout joints must be filled in with self leveler if they are deeper than 1/16 of an inch.
What happens when two different types of flooring meet?
Stoneform® flooring has 5 transitions available including square stair nose, quarter round, end cap, t-mold, and reducer. Each of these is designed to cover a specific type of floor-to-floor transition. Check out the product details on our trims to choose the one that best meets your needs.
What tools do I need for flooring installation?
Installation of Stoneform® flooring requires the following tools: razor blade knife, rubber mallet, tape, measure and a tapping block. Stoneform® flooring can be installed using a score and snap method, however the installation will be easier and faster with a chop saw, oscillating saw, circular saw, or jigsaw. Please reference the general install video above.
Can I install Stoneform® flooring on stairs?
Using our Finished Edge, square stair nose, Stoneform® can be installed on stairs. This is the only case where Stoneform® needs to be adhered to the existing surface using 100% clear silicone. Please reference the stair install video above.
Should my Stoneform® be acclimated before installation?
Yes, Stoneform® should be installed between 65-80 degrees Fahrenheit. It is important that the installation area is at this temperature range indefinitely, not just during installation. Stoneform® flooring needs to be staged/acclimated in the installation area (climate controlled) for no less than 48 hours prior to installation.
How level should my subfloor be before installation?
Hewn flooring should not be installed over any subfloor that has more than 3/16" variance over 8 ft. Subfloors should be free of any loose debris and vacuum cleaned prior to installation. If Stoneform® is installed on an uneven subfloor, it could result in a hollow, tapping sound.
Can I install Stoneform® outside?
No, it can only be installed in areas that will stay between 65 and 85 degrees Fahrenheit.
Do I need an underlayment or moisture barrier?
Stoneform® does not need a moisture barrier however, concrete slabs must be fully cured. Moisture residue from an uncured concrete slab can be trapped by Stoneform® planks which can lead to moisture and mold. If concrete slab curation is a concern, use a 6 mil plastic moisture barrier or a fluid applied membrane before installation. In rare cases, trapped moisture from the concrete can cause warping along the edges of the Stoneform® planks and will not be covered by the Hewn Floor warranty. If you are unsure about your concrete being cured, a moisture barrier is strongly recommended.
Can I install cabinets over Stoneform® flooring?
No, floating floors need the ability to expand and contract with temperature changes. Pinning the flooring under cabinets prevents the needed mobility. The flooring should be installed around the cabinetry and a toe kick or quarter round can be used as a transition around the cabinet. A minimum of 1/4" must be allowed where Stoneform® meets all immovable vertical surfaces. Hewn Floor has matching quarter rounds to every flooring color.
Can I install over electric radiant floor heating or hot water radiant heating?
Yes, all Hewn Floor products are a great option to be installed over radiant heating, especially if you need a flooring that is waterproof! Be sure to keep the radiant floor heat under 80 degrees Fahrenheit or you could compromise the integrity of the flooring.
Can Stoneform® be installed near a fireplace?
Typically no, floating floors are susceptible to expansion when exposed to the high heat that a traditional fireplace emits. Many modern fireplaces do not emit heat downward and in this case, Stoneform® flooring can be successfully used adjacent to a fireplace.
How do I find a flooring installer?

Stoneform® Maintenance
What cleaner should I use on my Hewn floor?
We recommend plain water and a damp microfiber mop. If a cleaning product must be used, we recommend Bona Hard Surface Floor cleaner. It is important that only a pH neutral cleaner is used on any Hewn Floor to prevent hazy residue that attracts dirt and dust.
How do I prevent scratches on my floor?
Stoneform® is highly scratch resistant but not scratch proof. All furniture that comes in direct contact with Stoneform® should have felt sliders between the furniture legs and the flooring. Care should be maintained to not slide furniture across a Hewn floor.
How do I replace a floor plank?
Replacing one plank in the middle of the floor (without pulling up other planks), Is possible, but is an advanced technique. Here are some examples of how to replace a single plank:

Is Stoneform® waterproof?
Yes! Stoneform® is waterproof. The unique interlocking mechanism does not allow moisture to penetrate through the floor.
Shipping from Hewn Floor
How much does shipping flooring cost?
For Hewn Floor orders over $3,000 shipping is always free, excluding deliveries to Alaska and Hawaii. For orders less than $2,999 shipping is a flat rate of $199. If you are ordering one or two boxes, shipping is $49 per box.
How long will it take to receive my flooring?
Depending on where you live, shipping can take between 3-10 business days. We currently ship from the intermountain west and the pacific northwest. Product typically leaves our warehouse within 3-4 business days. Look for an email from the Hewn Floor logistics team once your order is placed with tracking information and estimated time of arrival.
What states and countries does Hewn Floor ship to?
Currently Hewn ships exclusively to the lower 48 United States.
What is inside delivery?
Inside Delivery to Residences
When freight is delivered by a (3rd-party) carrier to a residential address, inside delivery involves the driver moving the pallet to the driveway, porch or garage. Drivers will not take freight inside a home.
It is important to note that most carriers have policies prohibiting drivers from even attempting in-home pick-up or delivery. This policy is to avoid complaints that the driver tracked in mud, damaged walls or doors and the like. Additionally, there are potential freight liability issues if an accident or injury occurs inside.
Therefore, it's in every party's best interest that the freight simply is delivered to a convenient outdoor location. Planning for this is imperative when your freight is delivered to a residence, or you could potentially face delays or have to make a redelivery.В
Inside Delivery to Businesses
If delivering to a business, inside delivery generally means the shipment will be left inside the door of the business. Typically, the driver will bring the freight a few feet inside the main entrance. If the freight needs to be delivered to the interior of the building, up a staircase or up an elevator, the delivery charge will increase.
Also, remember that most drivers will not breakdown freight to move it through doors. If your freight is larger than the entryway, a driver will not bring it inside. DriversВ will also not perform extraordinary functions, including delivering up long or winding drives, or attempting to deliver in any area that is unsafe for their normal equipment such as a narrow hallway or steep stairs. If you don't account for these types of services ahead of time, you could be charged an added fee.
